Obituary of John F. Casey
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John F. Casey, 87, passed away peacefully at home on December 17, 2024, surrounded by his family, following a brief battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel, his parents, Francis "Red" and Juliana, and his brothers, James and Michael. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Alberta, and seven children: David Casey, Kelly (Robert) Clements, Jon (Kristine) Casey, Kathleen (Cecil) Casey-Romero, William (Rachel) Casey, Kerry Casey(Hoag), and Colleen (Benjamin) Robinson. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: Tyler, Casey, and Camryn Clements; Maxwell and Brooke Casey; Daniel, Michaela, Elizabeth, and Caroline Casey; Kellen and Keegan Hoag; and Theron, Theodore, and Nathaniel Robinson, as well as his three sisters, Frances Lewis, Ann Burdick, and Ellen Harrison.
John proudly served his country in the Marine Corps before following in his father's footsteps by joining the Binghamton Fire Department. During his 39-year career, he held various positions, including Captain and Fire Marshal, and ultimately retired as First Assistant Deputy Chief.
John loved traveling with his family across North America, with Myrtle Beach being his favorite destination. He was known for his generosity and willingness to help others, and if a task exceeded his own abilities, he always "knew a guy." In addition to his career with the fire department, John was also a landlord and the owner of PJ Insulation Co.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Guthrie-Lourdes, with special thanks to the compassionate angels from Guthrie Lourdes Hospice.
