Obituary of Michael A. Rudik III
Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Andrew Rudik, III, aged 31, on December 9, 2024, after a brief illness.
Michael was a graduate of Binghamton High School (Class of 2011), where he was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and quiet determination. He went on to earn his associate degree from Broome Community College before graduating from Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. His studies reflected his deep curiosity about the world and his passion for building a better future.
Michael's gentle, calming presence made him a cherished friend and family member. He had a unique ability to connect with people, making everyone feel welcome and understood. His quick wit and dry humor brightened countless conversations. He loved exploring his hometown of Binghamton, NY, often driving around in his vibrant red Mini Cooper, which became something of a signature. Time with his close-knit group of friends – affectionately known as "The Boys" – Brandon Nemire, David Rohmann, Jake Schaum, and Cody Kleitz – was filled with laughter, good-natured mischief, and unforgettable memories.
Michael had an adventurous spirit and a love for the outdoors. Whether discovering the beauty of nature with his Labrador Retrievers, playing golf with friends, or simply enjoying a jazz playlist on his front porch, Michael brought joy and warmth to every moment.
A talented cook, Michael enjoyed experimenting with flavors and techniques in the kitchen and on the grill, sharing his creations with those he loved.
Michael's love for animals was evident throughout his life, from his childhood canine companion, Teddy, to his beloved cat, Smidgen, and the furry friends he leaves behind: Bailey and Finley, his Labrador Retrievers; and rescue cats Cosmo and Jasper. His heart was always open to both people and pets in need, and he often supported local animal rescues, inspiring others to do the same.
Professionally, Michael thrived in roles where his compassion and creativity could shine. He made a lasting impact as an early education assistant at The Discovery Center, where his patience and kindness were cherished by children and colleagues alike. He brought his creativity and hard work to positions at Wegmans and Hershey Country Club, where his attention to detail and reliability were deeply appreciated.
Michael was predeceased by his grandparents, Edward and Jean Bowen, and Dr. Michael and Beverly Rudik.
He is survived by his heartbroken mother, Jane Bowen Endres and stepfather, Stephen Endres; his loving sister, Alexa Rudik; and his father, Michael Rudik Jr. (Julie). He is also survived by his stepsister, Katrina Root (Joe); stepbrother, Alex Endres; aunts, Caroline Wilson (David) and Ann Bowen Hamilton (Malcolm); uncles, Randy Rudik (Marie) and Richard Rudik; and cousins, Michael Howard Rudik (Jessica), David Simone Wilson, Carl Hamilton, Caitlin Quackenbush (Brian) and their daughter Madeleine, and Claire Hamilton (Liam Daily).
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible nurses in the Wilson Hospital ICU – Kait, Sam, Roxanne, Lexi, Bre, Julie, Allie, and Nicole – for their compassionate care of Michael and their unwavering support of his family during his hospitalization.
In honor of Michael's love for animals, donations can be made to Lava's Lost & Forgotten Felines via PayPal (@lavasfelines) or Venmo (@Heather-Suhadolnik-1), or to The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier, 60 Morgan Road, Binghamton, NY.
