MaryJane Yacynych, 89, of Vestal, New York, passed away at Mercy House on Thursday, October 17th, 2024. MaryJane was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Mary (Lupchak) Yurch, her aunt and uncle who raised her, Michael and Elizabeth Kropilak of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a niece, Jennifer Yurch, and a nephew Bobby Yurch. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Walter Yacynych, and her devoted sons, John (Maureen Walters) Yacynych, and Robert (Marianne Reynolds) Yacynych, MD, along with her grandchildren Edward, David, Janette, Michael, Walter, and Jenna Yacynych. She is also survived by her brother Robert (Mary Ann Pettina) Yurch of Johnstown, Pa, and her niece Melissa (Christian) Tracy, along with grand nieces Olivia and Hannah, and grand nephew Christian Tracy. MaryJane graduated from Johnstown High School and worked in the secretarial field for the Sears Company in the 1960s. She also worked at The World of Christmas on the Vestal Parkway for almost 20 years. She thoroughly enjoyed this job and the creativity it gave her in decorating Christmas trees. She also shared those talents with the Roberson Center in the 1980s and 1990s when she decorated their Christmas trees. She loved to volunteer at various election sites. MaryJane was a parishioner at St Vincent De Paul Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Vestal for almost 60 years. She loved bird watching, was an officer in the Binghamton Garden Club, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. MaryJane and her husband loved to travel the world and experience that with many close friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sue for her compassionate home health care. They would also like to thank the staff at the Brookdale Vestal West Memory Unit, the nursing staff at Lourdes Hospital, and the staff at Mercy House of the Southern Tier. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal, Friday October 25, 2024 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Thursday October 24, 2024 from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760. Our love will be with her always.
