Obituary of Francis C. Michalek

Francis C. Michalek, AKA, "Lolly", passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024 at The age of 91 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City. He was born on July 25, 1933 to Frank and Rose Michalek. Lolly was a long time resident of Sunrise Terrace, Binghamton. Lolly is survived by loving wife of 62 years, Barbara Michalek and his son Francis Michalek. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Delores (Douglas) Williams. He will be missed dearly by his nieces and nephews, Rob, Pam, Traci, Staci and Pete along with his godson, Gary. Lolly was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Rose Michalek and by his brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Judith Bakanowski. Lolly was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He also enjoyed, walking, waterskiing, watching football and having his nightly cocktails. Lolly served in the United States Army from March 1953 to March 1955. He retired from the phone company after 32 years of being a lineman. He also enjoyed 35 years of retirement. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church, Clinton Street, Binghamton, Saturday September 28, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton , Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Lolly's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
