Mary Catherine Ritter (Marshall), 94, of Vestal, NY passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2024. A memorial mass will take place at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 801 Main St. in Vestal, NY on Sept. 5, 2024, at 11:00am.Calling hours begin at 10:00am.

Mary was born in Philadelphia, PA to David J. Marshall and Mary Catherine Marshall (Nash) on October 6, 1929. She attended high school at Columbia High in So. Orange, NJ and obtained a BS in Education from Kean College in Union, NJ. In addition to teaching at various Catholic Schools in NJ, Mary became a mother to three. Over 20 years in Vestal, she sang soprano in the Vestal Community Chorus and the OLS church choirs and participated in Alphas and Betas. Renowned for her sticky buns and pies, she coaxed smiles from many.

Mary is survived by sister, Elizabeth McLaughlin nee Marshall of Ross Cahill, Ireland, brother, Paul Marshall of Morristown, NJ, sister, Margaret Shellenberger nee Marshall, daughter, Mary Ann Daugherty of Vestal, NY, daughter, Mary Theresa Chapman of Ocala, FL, 5 grandchildren: Brendan Adinaro of Sparta, NJ, Daniel Daugherty of Austin, TX, Chelsea Hirsch of Sparta, NJ, Noah Hirsch of Pittsburgh, Pa and Rebecca L. Hirsch of Franklin, TN, great-grandson, Erik Wilbur-Hirsch and 23 nieces and nephews from around the globe. She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 brothers: John Marshall of Williamstown, MA, Thomas Marshall of Vicenza, Italy, David Marshall of Munich, Germany, Brendan Marshall of Sandiego, CA, and Walter Marshall of Philadelphia, PA.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal, Thursday September 5, 2024 at 11 a.m.
