Obituary of Roberto Anzalone
Please share a memory of Roberto to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roberto "Robert" Gaetano Anzalone, Sr., 88, of Binghamton, New York, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 08, 2024, surrounded by his family and joined the Lord and his loved ones in Heaven. He was born in Tortorici, Italy, on July 22, 1935, and was the son of the late Gaetano and Giuseppina Anzalone of Tortorici, Italy. He was predeceased by his brothers, Antonino and Francesco Anzalone, his sister, Maria Anzalone, and his loving wife, Santa Anzalone, who passed away on the same day, July 08, three years earlier. Robert is survived by his three sons, Joseph, Frank, and Robert Anzalone Jr., his daughter, Gabriella McAleer, and his grandchildren, Ella McAleer, Kai, Laila, and Charles Anzalone.
Robert came to the United States in 1955, working hard as a tailor so that he could live the American Dream. In his youth, he had an amateur race car career at Watkins Glen in the 1960s and drove a sporty red Alfa Romeo Giulia. He was a family man and loving father, marrying our mother in 1967. They stayed together for over 50 years until their passing. He established Anzalone's Tailor Shop in 1967, working with his wife by his side every day for over 50 years as well. He loved Formula One racing and soccer, and was known for his energetic personality.
He touched everyone he came into contact with. If you were a customer at his shop, he would entertain you with stories and lots of wine, making sure you had a good time. Once married, he never left his family's side and always made sure that he sat down with his family and friends at dinner. His last meals were seafood scampi and Italian pastries, including cannoli and biscotti, some of his favorite treats. As a loving husband, he never left my mother's side and defended her with as much tenacity and spirit as a lion. As a father, he made sure he taught his children respect, devotion, hard work, honesty, and integrity, and worked all his life so that his children could live the American Dream as well.
Our family would like to give Guthrie Lourdes Hospice our sincere appreciation and thanks. They made our father's journey into the afterlife in a peaceful, warm, and professional manner.
