Phyllis (Moran) Lannon, of Binghamton, formerly of Vestal, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2024 at Fairview Good Shepherd Home. Phyllis celebrated her 100th birthday on September 5, 2023. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Robert L. Lannon in December 2007; by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Moran; her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Dorothy Moran; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jane and Walter Sweeney; her son-in-law Charles Marquardt; and her granddaughter, Mary Catherine Marquardt. Phyllis grew up in Endicott with her brother and had many aunts, uncles and cousins. At 100 years old, she is one of the last surviving members of her close-knit Irish family. Phyllis is survived by her 5 children, Patricia (Allen) Carkey, Vestal, Robert (MaryLou) Lannon, Syracuse, Eileen (Martin) Kane, Hilton Head, SC, Jane (Tom) Federowicz, Vestal, Marie Marquardt, Mt. Phyllis is also survived by her 17 great grandchildren, a niece and several nephews. Phyllis graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Elmira as a Registered Nurse and lovingly cared for many patients at several facilities in the Southern Tier. Phyllis and Bob were founding and life-long members of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Vestal. Her Roman Catholic faith was extremely important to her. She will be missed and we will always celebrate her as our loving, strong, fun-loving role model. We will always think of her when we hear the Notre Dame Fight Song. The family extends a very special thank you to the wonderful people at Good Shepherd Fairview for their compassionate and loving care of Mom for the last nine years of her life. You treated her as family and that is the way she felt about all of you. The family will receive friends at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal on Wednesday, July 3 from 10 am until the Funeral Mass at 11 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Phyllis may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute at Elm and Carlton Streets Buffalo, NY 14263 or Give.RoswellPark.org.
