John L. "Yonk" Tokos, Sr., 87, of Binghamton, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 21, 1926 in Binghamton. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Angeline Tokos; his brother, William and Dorothy Tokos, Sr. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Anna Mae Murphy Tokos; his children, Patricia Collins, Vestal, John L. Tokos, Jr., Binghamton; his sister, Josephine and Leonard Balch, Sr., Johnson City; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends and neighbors, especially Harry and Marge Feldmanis. He was a lifelong member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Binghamton. John was co-owner and operator of Tokos Brothers farms for 54 years with his brother, William Tokos, Sr. John was an avid polka dancer and an active member of the Bill Flynn Polka Club. John had a zest for life and a great love for his farm and the great outdoors. He also enjoyed his many trips to the casino. A Funeral Mass will be offered at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Binghamton, Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Friday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of John may be made to Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850.
