Obituary of Daniel L. Wiser

Daniel (Dan) Lee Wiser, 53, died unexpectedly in his sleep at home after a brief illness on April 11, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished moments. Dan was born on June 18, 1970 to Betty and Dale Wiser. Dan was a graduate of Chenango Forks High School and Clarkson University. After graduating college, Dan had a successful career at NYSEG where he worked for more than 31 years. Dan was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He cherished his relationships with all those in his life. Dan loved his family. He enjoyed family vacations and spending time on the Saint Lawrence River in the summer with friends and his sister and brother-in-law. Certain nights, you could count on finding Dan grabbing a salad and an IPA at Little Venice with his longtime friends behind the bar Joe, Mike and Mary Pat. He also enjoyed a late night campfire, and taking annual snowmobile trips to Canada, Michigan and Maine especially with his father, brother and nephews. Dan is predeceased by his partner Traci Simrell; his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Pauline Myers; his paternal grandparents, Elwin and Anna Wiser; and several aunts and uncles. Dan is survived by his parents Betty and Dale Wiser; his siblings Lorrie (Gene) Hulbert, and Tom (Kelly) Wiser; his beloved nieces and nephews, Kait Hulbert, Tim (Alysia) Hulbert, Kellsey (Will) Bottema, and Sean Wiser; aunts and uncles Jean and Dan Sabol, Greg and Nancy Myers, Elaine and Jim Senn, Paul and Rosemary Wiser, several cousins, his special Simrell family and cherished friends Andy and Chris Grospin, Jeff and Jim Johnson and Chris Thomas. He will be deeply missed, and as we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the life he lived. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Oak and Leroy Streets, Binghamton, Tuesday at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at St. Patrick's Church, Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dan's name to the Humane Society of Broome County at 167 Conklin Ave Binghamton NY, 13903 or via their website, or to Traci CARES Benjamin Franklin School 262 Conklin Ave. Binghamton, NY 13903.
