My first memory of Kate...in 1957 we were eating watermelon on the steps of her house, Aunt Dot and I. I asked Kate if she swallowed a watermelon seed. That got a few laughs but what did I know, I was 8. Several months later, Kevin was born. Kate has been in and out of my life for sixty plus years. A friend when I lost Aunt Dot. A friend when I lost my family. A friend when I needed one. She was one of a kind and I will miss her. Not to mention the long conversations. I am so glad I have her on voicemail.
