Norma J. McNerney Obituary

Norma McNerney of Douglassville, PA was called to be with God on March 1, 2024 passing peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family. After living a wonderful life spanning 100 years she is reunited now with her parents Ingholt and Josephine Christensen, brothers Wallace, Sonny, and sister Ervila. Norma is survived by four generations of family. Her children Ann ( Carl) Paludi of Lodi, NY; Gail ( Joseph) Misulich of Apalachin, NY; David McNerney (Beverly) of Douglassville, PA; and Susan McNerney of Binghamton, NY. Grandchildren Lori ( Brian) Coe. Robert ( Melody) Misulich; Meaghan Callanan Schuster; Marlee McNerney ( Zach) Zima; and Mark McNerney. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, and a great, great grandson. Also surviving is her dearest friend Sister Elizabeth Newell (Windsor, NY), and Sisters Paula, and Susan.


Raised in Lowville, NY, Norma lived in Binghamton for 30 years after moving from Windsor, NY where the family was raised. Additionally, she was the Clerk/Treasurer for the Village of Windsor for decades. A voracious reader and skilled solver of crossword puzzles, Norma enjoyed solving Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune questions up to her final days. Mom enjoyed spending time with family, and friends. She was an exceptional cook, and her specialty were the delicious desserts that were appreciated by all. Early in life she was active and accomplished in the sports of golf, and tennis. After retiring she enjoyed traveling and was most fond of visiting numerous countries in Europe. Later in life she enjoyed visits to local wineries, Seneca Lake, and Cape May with her family.


Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday March 25, 2024 at 10 a.m. Rev. Timothy Taugher will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Monday March 25, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Spiritual Center (712 Rt-79, Windsor, NY 13865) would be her wish.
