Joseph Menichello, 55, of Binghamton, NY, passed away on February 29, 2024. He was born on May 14, 1968, in Binghamton.

Raised in Apalachin, Joe attended Vestal High School and earned a degree in finance from Broome Community College.

Joe worked many years in sales before transitioning to become a talented kitchen and bathroom designer. His proudest role was that of being a dad, where he was a devoted caretaker who always put others before himself. He would do anything for his family and friends. Joe was known for his strong-willed nature, passion for his beliefs, but sentimental personality.

Known for his supreme cleaning and home-keeping talents, Joe kept everything impeccable at his castle. In his free time, Joe enjoyed cars, particularly his 1982 Mercedes SL, and collecting washing machines. Joe loved tinkering with them and had a very analytical mind. He also found joy in gardening and spending quality time at home with his family.

Joe is survived by his husband, Dr. John Welch, his children Christian John and Madeline, his mother Carol "Dolly" Menichello, his brother Dr. Brian (Monica) Menichello, his sister Christina (Carl) Wisnesky, his nieces Makala and Maia, his nephew Luca, his best friends Stephen Mooney and Scott Barth, and his beloved pugs Daisy, Oscar, and Simon. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Menichello, his brother Kristian Menichello, his beloved pet Dexter, and his grandparents.

Joe's family would like to thank Kathy Connerton and everyone at Guthrie Lourdes Hospital for the excellent care Joe received. Special thanks to Dr. Matthew Krauthamer, Dr. Jeffrey Greenhouse, Dr. Praveen Bondalapati, Dr. John DiMenna, Dr. Waqar Ahmed, Dr. Christine Fenlon, and Dr. Dharmesh Patel. Thank you to all his nurses and respiratory therapists, including Stacey, Amy, Danielle, and Alayna. Also, thank you to all our friends who have reached out to support us.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton, Friday, March 8, 2024 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Friday March 8 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lourdes Hospital Foundation 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905 or the Broome County Humane Society, 167 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903.
