Obituary of James A. Quinn

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James (Jim) Albert Quinn, 81, of Endicott, NY passed away on 1/1/24 with his best friend, Mary, at his side. Jim was born on February 6, 1942, in Johnson City, NY to Sarah & William Kelly Quinn. Jim graduated from Johnson City and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in theology, counseling and education. Jim was a pilot, a teacher, a counselor, a lifeguard at a deaf camp, and an advocate of many charities. Jim spent his lifetime giving to others, teaching, counseling, and supporting those in faith and love throughout his career. Jim was motorcyclist, an avid RC Remote Airplane Club enthusiast; he built and flew his model aircraft all over the US. Jim hand built and flew his own full-size airplanes as well, the Sonerai II & the Volksplane VP-II. He loved to fly his plane out early in the morning with his buddy Vic to any small regional airport that was near a "great diner" for their morning coffee and eggs. Uncle Jim even brought a preschool group to the airport to see his planes and watch him take off and land after a few stunts. Uncle Jim was a Lifeguard for many years and saved several lives, but he would never tell about it. He was too humble. He appreciated the small things, would bring flowers to family members for no reason at all, and bought giant candy bars for his great nieces and nephews because "if he didn't who would?" Uncle Jim never forgot a birthday and treated his brother Bill and sister Roseann like royalty. Jim was proud of his family and his deep connections to his friends and his Catholic faith. Uncle Jim took care of his parents in their aging days and was very proud of their strength, faith, and love for one another. Uncle Jim was an extraordinary cheerleader for his nephews and nieces and was always known to show up whenever they invited him to support or cheer them for an event, graduation, or a theater show. Jim is predeceased by his mother Sarah Quinn, father William Kelly Quinn, his sister Roseann Goosman, brother in-law Jim Goosman, his niece Ann Goosman, his sister in-law Margaret Quinn and friend Virginia Capponi. They are all reunited now in heaven. Jim leaves a legacy of people who he loved behind: brother, Bill Quinn & wife Becky, nephew, Pat Quinn & wife Lisa, nephew John Quinn & wife Rebecca, nephew Rob Goosman & wife Molly. He leaves behind his great nieces and nephews: JP Quinn & wife Lisa, Kelly & husband Colby Brooks, Griffin Goosman (partner Brooke), Jack Goosman (partner Kayla), and Gracie Goosman (partner Ethan), and three great grandnephews and grandniece. Jim had the honor and love of his lifelong friends the Parry family and forever family Mary Morrisroe, Charissa, Alex & Theo Kafarakis, and Demian Morrisroe who will keep him cherished in their memories always. Jim Quinn will be remembered dearly as a man of true humility, faith, generosity, love, and kindness. Please join the Quinn, Goosman, Kafarakis, & Morrisroe families to say farewell at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St. Binghamton, NY on Monday, January 15th from 9 – 11 for calling hours. There will be a family prayer vigil at 11 AM with immediate procession to the Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City NY for the burial. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Jim Quinn's honor to Camp Mark Seven for the Deaf in the Adirondacks. Donations can be mailed to Mark Seven Deaf Foundation, care of K Lange, PO Box 840313, St Augustine, Fl 32080 If you would like to attend via zoom please click on this link: Join Zoom Meeting https://wpcsd-org.zoom.us/j/98215776340?pwd=NGdVaXhHRkZkbWlRVGRia01KMXlPQT09 Meeting ID: 982 1577 6340 Passcode: 269005
