Marilyn Meier Norton, 85, loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully, December 21, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband, John P. Norton, her son, John P. Norton Jr. (Pat), her parents, Frank M. and Madelyn (Doyle) Meier, siblings, Madelyn Healy, Frank A. Meier and Nancy Weymouth. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Norton; sons, Tom (Vicky) Norton and Dale (Lisa) Norton; daughter-in-law, Mary Therese Norton and grandchildren Kelly and Megan Wilbur, John, Amy and Michael Norton, Alison and Jillian Norton, many lifelong friends and loving care givers. Marilyn was happily married to her high school sweetheart and best friend for over 60 years. She was a life-long Binghamton resident, growing up on the Southside where she raised her family. Marilyn loved camping, spending her summers at Canoe Lake in Canada with family and close friends. In later years, Marilyn and John spent their winters with friends in Venice, Florida. Marilyn was very artistic! She loved to sew, knit, sketch, crochet and created many cross stitch works of art! If you were one of the lucky few, you were the recipient of one of her yearly Christmas cross stitch ornaments. A Funeral Mass will be offered at The Church of Saints John and Andrew, 1263 Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday, January 3, 2024 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Marilyn's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Fl 17, Chicago, IL, 60601 or at www.alz.org.
