Samuel John Granata, 84, of Binghamton, New York passed away at home on October 31, 2023. Sam was born in Binghamton to John S. and Concetta L. Granata on September 5, 1939. He attended Binghamton Central High School and graduated in 1958. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure University in 1962. He opened Granata Insurance Agency after graduation and operated it for many years. He enjoyed sipping coffee with his buddies and visiting his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Sam is survived by his wife, Charlotte Granata, who he married in 1969, sisters Marlene and Nancy Granata of Binghamton, daughter Mary (married to Mark) Campbell of Charlotte, North Carolina, son John (married to Kimberly) Granata of Cazenovia, New York and four grandchildren Micah, Annabelle, Aaron and Aidan Granata of Cazenovia. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Concetta Granata. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and medical specialists in Sam's life who helped him live as long as he did. Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association. Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday at 12 noon. Rev. Dr. John Hawco will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Monday from 11 a.m. until 12 noon.
