Theresa Whelan, 96, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully on September 18th 2023.

She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, James; infant son, John; son, James; brothers John, Frank, and Father Jerry Buckley; sisters Geraldine Hoban and Loretta Seaburg; and her parents Florence and John Buckley.

She is survived by her children, Maureen (Timothy) Donahue, Jerry Whelan, Kevin (Suzanne) Whelan, Molly (Luis) Smith, and Michael (Amelia) Whelan; grandchildren, Sean (Jen) Whelan, Erin Donahue, Ryan (Holly) Donahue, Lorraine (Aaron) Bennett, and Logan (Madison) Weiler; great grandchildren, Liam, Maura, Leo, Emelia, and Hollyn; and several very special nieces, and nephews.

Theresa was proud of her Irish heritage, and visited Ireland on 10 different occasions. She was a long time member of the AOH, a graduate of St Paul's, and a member of St Thomas church. Theresa was also an avid fan of the NY Yankees, and she cherished her childhood friendships with "the Club Girls" into her adulthood.

Theresa was primarily employed as a "stay at home mom", and in her later years by West Junior and Lourdes Hospital.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the JGJ Unit 3 staff for their excellent care, especially Jennifer.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton, Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A.
