Obituary of Brian F. Kozel

Brian F. Kozel, 41, of Binghamton, NY passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2023. He was predeceased by his grandparents Anne and Frank Kozel, Lillian and Joseph McManus; aunt Ellen McManus; uncles Kevin McManus and Bill Parisot; cousins Matthew and Michael McManus and Keith Kozel. He is survived by his daughter, the Love of His Life, Leilani Kozel; his parents Mary Ann (McManus) and Bill Kozel; brother BJ (Laura) Kozel; sister Colleen (Jordan) Patch; nieces Maddie and Ellody Kozel, Ava and Ella Patch, nephews Liam and Gavin Kozel; aunts and uncles: Irene Parisot, Ken (Lois) Kozel, Doug (Mary Jo) Kozel, John (Annette) Kozel, Joe McManus, Mike (Kathy) McManus, Fran (Peggy) McManus, Maureen McManus, Pat (Sheila) McManus, and Dan (JoAnne) McManus; and several cousins and lifelong friends. Brian was a graduate of Seton Catholic Central, Class of 2000; a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Church; and a 15-year member of the Binghamton Fire Department. He was an exceptional athlete and he took pride in being one of the few Section IV basketball players to be selected for both the All-Janik and All-Metro Award in 2000. His talent allowed him the opportunity to play at the college level. Brian also had a passion for painting, especially ocean scenes; and took pride in his Irish Heritage. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Oak and Leroy Streets, Binghamton, Monday August 14, 2023 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
