Randall Lee Gilbert, 62, died at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY on August 1st, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born October 12, 1960, in Johnson City, NY. He is the son of Richard and Myrtle "Doris" Gilbert. Randy graduated from Binghamton Central High School in 1979. He retired as Detective Sheriff for Broome County in January 2008 after 25 years of dedicated service. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Gerald, Donald, and twin Ronald. He is survived by his wife Mary (Smith) Gilbert and children Benjamin, Christine (Justin) Canfield, Alexander, and Nicholas, one stepchild, Stephanie (Ryan) Pie, grandchildren Bryce, and Tessa Canfield, brothers Theodore (Judy) Gilbert, Neal (Donna-Rae) Gilbert, and many nieces and nephews. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a passionate Chicago Bears fan. He could often be heard shouting "Let's Go Chicago" as he rooted for his team. He loved bowling, golfing, and time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed being the life of the party and laughter followed him wherever he went. He was deeply loved and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 11 a.m. Rev. David C. Seaver will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Monday August 7, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. Following the funeral on Tuesday there will be a gathering of friends and family at American Legion Post 1194 363 W. Service Road, Binghamton beginning at 1 p.m.
