Obituary of James R. Lynch
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jim Lynch, 85 of Binghamton, son of the late James and Helen Lynch went to his eternal rest on July 8, 2023. He was predeceased by the love of his life of 48 years, Kay, whom he missed every day; his infant sister, Ellen, and close friends Paul and Bette Ann Ihnot. He is survived by his devoted children and their spouses: Patrick and Debra Lynch, Ellen and Mark Robinson, Marie and Matthew Rossie, Teresa and Jerry Hatton, Barbara and Chris Novitsky; his precious grandchildren who adored their "Poppy"- Michael, Hannah, Joshua, Shane, Kayla, Jacob (Adrienne), Meg (Ranier), Tess (Zack), Sam, Georgia, Callahan and his two great grandchildren Michael and Amelia. Jim is also survived by his companion "Odie" whom he rescued years ago, and by his good friend Madeleine DelVillano, who lovingly accepted Odie as her own. He is also survived by his Lynch, Sullivan, and Giblin relatives along with loving nieces and nephews, their families, and his lifelong best friend Billy O'Boyle. Dad told us many stories about growing up on the South Side of Binghamton, his St. John basketball days and his favorite fishing spots where he spent countless hours as a youth. He shared his love of fishing with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He retired as a pressman from the Binghamton Press, drove bus for Chenango Valley School District, BC Transit and Catholic Charities. He was a proud resident of Nimmonsburg, where he enjoyed a lifetime with neighbors who became family. You would always see Jim sitting in his breezeway, waiting for the chance to chat with anyone walking by. Jim was proud of his Irish heritage and his Catholic faith, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the AOH for many years. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Binghamton.
