Obituary of Helena C. Monaco

Helena Christina Monaco, 87, of Binghamton, NY passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023. Helen was born on December 14, 1935 in Boughtiduff, Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon, Ireland. She was the daughter of late John Gallagher and Bridget (Delia) Howley. She was a loving spouse, a proud mother, an adoring grandmother, and caring to various nieces and nephews. Her friendly smile and genuine compassion for others brought joy and happiness to everyone she met. She enjoyed volunteering at Lourdes Hospital for over 35 years. She loved to travel with her spouse, Arthur, took joy in gardening and loved her daily walk to Dunkin Donuts and conversing with friends. She is survived by her husband, Arthur John Monaco, her son, Darren Patrick Monaco, granddaughters, Emmakate Monaco and Lillian Winifred Monaco along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Monaco was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald J. Gallagher, Thomas Gallagher and sister, Marie Towey. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Oak and Leroy Streets, Binghamton, Thursday at 12 noon. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the J.A.
