Joyce Hickey Knepper passed away on Tuesday June 20, 2023 at age 87. Joyce was the last remaining member of the Vosburg family from Hawleyton, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, Rexford and Viola Vosburg and her siblings; Charles and Marilyn Vosburg, Nellie and Ed Shapley, Marian and Dick Huttleston and her twin brothers, Ralph and Robert (Wimpy) Vosburg. Joyce was also predeceased by her former loving husband, Gerald Hickey. Joyce and Jerry's first child, Michael Hickey passed away in April of this year. Joyce is survived by her loving daughters; Marcene (David) Depew, Michelle (Richard) Green and Mary Beth Wells and fiancé, Michael De Falco. Also surviving is Joyce's former husband, James Knepper of Dacono, CO. Joyce is survived by her 8 grandchildren; Charles (Hei Hei) Depew, Joseph (Stevie) Depew, Molly Depew and Michael Gragano, Lori (Brian) Darling, Jennifer (Dave) Kilmer, Megan (Chris) Downey, Kimberlie (Rob) Priskie, Anthony (Holly Difonzo) Wells. Joyce was blessed with 13 great grandchildren, she was so proud of each and every one of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother and great grandmother, affectionately known as "Gram". Joyce is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her special niece, Judy Zurenda is 9 years younger than Joyce…Judy has been Joyce's connection to the past. Joyce was raised in Hawleyton, NY and lived above Vosburg's General Store and Service Station. She graduated from Binghamton North High and then moved to the City of Binghamton with her sister, Marian. Joyce began her long career at that time working at Marine Midland and then Endicott Trust. She retired from Endicott Trust as Assistant Treasurer and Purchasing Agent. In 1995 Joyce moved to Longmont, CO and married James Knepper. Joyce's love of family brought her back to the Binghamton area in 2016. Joyce enjoyed crocheting and made countless towel tops, angels, afghans, baby hats and baby blankets to share with family and friends. She also loved to shop for antiques and bake kolachi cookies. Donations in Joyce's memory can be made to SPEAK and/or Meals on Wheels. Joyce will be missed by all. Funeral Services will be held at the J. A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11 a.m. The service will be officiated by Joyce's niece, Lay Minister, Judy Zurenda and Hei Hei Depew. Burial will be in Hawleyton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A special quote from Joyce's sister, Nellie; "Don't cry when something is over, smile because it was."
