Robert J. Yurka, 70 of Johnson City, New York passed away on April 26, 2023. Robert was born on March 23, 1953 to Josephine Marcinkowski and John Yurka. After Robert graduated from Johnson City High School in 1971 he went on to receive his bachelor's degree from SUNY Oneonta and his Master's degree in computer science from Binghamton University. After graduating Robert began his lifetime career as a software engineer for Singer-Link Simulation, as well as Lockheed Martin Systems Integration. Robert is survived by his three children Bryan (Sarah) Yurka, Heather (Gary) Yurka and Jon (Danielle) Yurka, his four Grandchildren Ariana, Grant, Amelia, and Abram Yurka, his dearest friend Robin Dumais, and members of the Wildcats Social Group. Robert enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and was a member of The Golden Tones Polka Band. He was best known for his drum solo "Wipe out". Throughout the years he never missed a weekend football game. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to everyone. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.
