Obituary of Kevin P. Esworthy

Kevin P. Esworthy, 65, of Binghamton, NY passed away peacefully March 19, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Binghamton, a son of the late Joseph W. Esworthy Sr. and Marilyn J. (Begasse) Esworthy. Kevin was also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law James and Bernadette Keough and by brothers in law: Charles Warren, Michael Keough and Richard Sirianna as well as several aunts and uncles. Kevin is survived by his wife, Therese (Keough) Esworthy, stepson, Ian Haines (Maggie) and stepdaughter Jessica Rudy (John) and their daughter. Also surviving are his siblings: Cheryl White, Joseph Esworthy Jr. (Charlotte), Michael Esworthy, Maureen Warren, John Esworthy (Nancy), Thomas Esworthy (Winnie), MaryKay Stiles (Michael). Additionally, Kevin is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Susan Collins (Edward), Jim Keough (Sharon), Alice Sirianna, Sarah Keough, Anne Keough, Kevin Keough, Mary Keough, Mary Beth Kiff (Terry) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Kevin was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. He spent much of his career with the City of Binghamton as a code and building inspector and enjoyed renovating homes in the city. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and golfer and never refused a chance to spend the day at the Ely Park Golf Course. His sense of humor, witty observations, and loyal friendship will be sorely missed. Kevin was a member of the AOH and a longtime member at the Ely Park Golf Course. Kevin's family wishes to express special thanks to the incredible team at the University of Rochester Wilmot Cancer Institute and the welcoming and caring staff at the B. Thomas Golisano Hope Lodge in Rochester, NY. All these wonderful people helped Kevin to live fully and with hope during his illness. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Friday March 24, 2023 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Thursday March 23, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Kevin's honor be made to the Wilmot Cancer Institute at the University of Rochester or the B. Thomas Golisano Hope Lodge.
