Carol A. Murphy, 82, of Binghamton died peacefully Friday, December 23, 2022 at Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Mary (Kane) Murphy.; her sisters, Elaine LeStrange, Betty Duffy (John), her brothers Raymond Murphy and Charles Murphy Jr., her nephew Reverend Gregory LeStrange, her nieces Linda LeStrange and Sara LeStrange. She is survived by nieces and nephews Brian LeStrange, Sarasota, FL, Scott and Amy Lestrange, Syracuse, Maury Duffy, Binghamton, Timothy Duffy, Bear, DE, Sean and Lisa Duffy, Nashua, NH, Kevin and Peggy Duffy, Germantown, MD, Michael and Chris Duffy, Cicero, Erin Duffy and Diana Tucci, Damascus, MD; Cathy Murphy, Johnson City and Bob Murphy, Johnson City. Also by many grand nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Alice Murphy, Johnson City. Carol is also survived by several close friends whom she loved. Carol graduated from St. Patrick's Academy in 1958 and Sisters of Saint Joseph Carondelet. She received her Masters of Education from College of Saint Rose. Carol was a teacher at Franklin Elementary and East Middle School. She retired from the Binghamton School District in 1995. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling with friends, wintering in Flagler Beach, Florida and annual trips to Aruba. Carol had a special place in her heart for dogs. She never turned down an opportunity to take care of her furry friends. Carol will be remembered for her Irish wit and sense of humor. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Hillcrest and was a devout Catholic. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Chenango Street, Hillcrest, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. The Mass will be livestreamed at https://youtu.be/kxxXooNdPaA
