Obituary of Rosemary A. Holic

Please share a memory of Rosemary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rosemary "Rosie" A. (Russell) Holic, 62, of Binghamton, passed away on December 2, 2022. Born October 9, 1960, to the late Francis and Teresa (Ball) Russell, she is survived by her loving family; sons, Adam (Carol) and Calvin Holic, their father, Thomas Holic, granddaughter, Charlotte Holic, sisters, Anne Riley, Tessa (Joseph) Senigla, and Maureen Gorgol; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends, especially, Margaret Hardy. She was predeceased by her brother, James Russell. Rosie's quick-witted sense of humor that took no prisoners was known and beloved by all. Over the years, she loved getting together with family and friends for half-off burger night down the block, cracking open a bottle of wine or two with the South Side or the West Side girls, baking chocolate chip cookies from scratch for her sons, growing into her new role as "Nana," and entertaining countless visitors who stopped by the house for a laugh and a chat, among many other wonderful memories. A glass of Snapple, a candy bar, and some iteration of pizza or pasta were never far from reach, and will continue to be enjoyed in her honor and memory. Despite not owning dogs herself, Rosie loved them and kept a dedicated water bowl on her porch for any pets that came to visit. Though subdued, Rosie's deep love for her friends and family was unmistakable. Her sincere compassion for others and inspiring resilience in the face of adversity will be sorely missed. Cancer may have taken Rosie's life, but at no point did it take her spirit. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Friday December 30, 2022 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Thursday December 29, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. The family would like to thank Lourdes Hospice Care for the compassionate care Rosie received during their home visits and the Upstate Cancer Center team for giving us as much time together as possible. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to either Lourdes Hospice or the SUNY Upstate Medical University Cancer Center in Rosie's honor.
