Paul J. Shaughnessy, 97, of Endicott, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie (Reardon), in November 2014 and his son-in-law, Timothy Comfort, in November 2021. He was also predeceased by his parents, Edward and Nellie Shaughnessy, and his siblings, Jim, Ed and Gerry; and his sisters, Rita Shaughnessy, Jean Nelson and Helen Fitzgerald and his sisters and brothers-in-law. He is survived by his daughters Sally Comfort, Jane (Jerry) Hlopko and Patty (Marty) Szymanski, and son John Shaughnessy; his grandchildren Sarah, Ryan, and Nolan (Aleksandr Ustin) Comfort, Andrea (Brad) Gorson, and Shaughna (Andy) Winslow, Daniel (Kirsten) Szymanski, and Colin Szymanski; and his great-granddaughter Nora Shaughnessy Winslow. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Shirley Reardon; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, aboard the USS Concord; and a retired IBM Employee of 38 years. He also worked for over 50 years at Allen Memorial Funeral Home, in Endicott. Paul was raised in Little Meadows, Pennsylvania, and was always proud of his Irish Heritage. He was a member of St. Ambrose Parish, Endicott, for 70 years. The family would like to thank the nurses of UHS Twin Tiers Home Health and Lourdes Hospice, as well as the many healthcare personnel who helped Paul throughout the years. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Avenue, Endicott, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Friday October 28, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m.
