Obituary of Nancy E. Pille

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beloved Nancy (Sweeton) Pille, 83, passed peacefully on October 4, 2022 surrounded by her family. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Muriel (Hannah) and John Alfred Sweeton. She is survived by her adoring and devoted husband of 45 years, Richard "John" Pille, her children Mark (Carla) Magray of Roslyn, NY, Melissa (Steve) Rowe of Sudbury, MA, step-children Elizabeth (Ed) Pille-Speacht of San Diego, CA and John Pille of Binghamton. Nancy is survived by her brother, Richard (Carole) Sweeton and first-cousins, Barbara Suter Sweeton, David (Janet) Sweeton and Robert Stanton and nieces Alex and Leslie. She loved her six grandchildren Stephen, Zachary, Emily, Henry, Alex, and Max. Nancy spent most of her youth in New Jersey. She lived in a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Cherry Hill, NJ and grew up a 4H-country girl, romping around the farm on her pony. Summers were spent at the shore house in Ship Bottom, NJ where the Sweeton family still enjoys three houses on the same street. She moved to Binghamton in 1969, and successfully managed motherhood, college, and work at the same time. Nancy ran the Foster Grandparent Program and later served at the Psychology Department at SUNY Binghamton. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from SUNY Binghamton with the distinguished honor of Phi Beta Kappa. Nancy met John, the love of her life, at Christ Church. The two were married in 1977 and Nancy, Mark and Missy moved into the 'barn'. John and Nancy loved to travel; she was always planning her next great adventure on a Holland American cruise. They escaped Binghamton winters and spent six glorious weeks in Puerto Rico for many years. With her open, curious and loving personality, she made friends wherever she went. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was witty and jovial even when she wasn't feeling her best. Crossword, jigsaw puzzles, bridge and ancestry were favorite pastimes and kept her mind sharp as a tack. Nancy had a liver transplant at UPMC in 1997 and celebrated the 25th anniversary of her transplant this year. Since her transplant, she truly cherished every day and had the most incredibly positive spirit towards life. When her kidneys failed 3 years ago, she took the news in stride and in true Nancy spirit became close to everyone on her dialysis unit. She always put her faith in God and the wonderful doctors and nurses who cared for her. She loved animals and was the proud owner of two horses and four wonderful Corgis. Nancy was a devoted member of Trinity Memorial Church and cherished being part of the choir family. She studied ministry and shared her love and faith with everyone she met. Her family has been deeply moved by the love and support shown this incredible woman in her final days. She is blessed and has gone to sing with a choir of angels. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, 44 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday October 19, 2022 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 5 p.m. Donations can be made to Trinity Memorial Church; select Memorial Gift for Nancy Pille Music Fund. https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/1461449
