Obituary of Virginia L. McCormack

Virginia L. (Gavlik) McCormack, 89, of Binghamton, NY, passed away peacefully on Aug. 7, 2022. Ginnie was born Oct. 4, 1932 to Elizabeth and Frank Gavlik, although she celebrated her birthday all month! In 1957 she married the love of her life Raymond McCormack raising 4 children in the Town of Hillcrest. Once the kids all grew up, they moved back to Binghamton and lived a happy and social life with many family and friends get togethers. Ray died in 1997 so Ginnie moved her social skills to 5 Riverside Towers. Family and friends were her joy! Ginnie was predeceased by her husband Ray, her parents, her sisters, Mary and Mel, and brother Aide; her brothers-in-law, Mike and Joe Pat McCormack; her sisters-in-law, Rosie (Moon) Mullins, Judy Fish and Kathy Charsky. She is survived by her children, Colleen and Brad Campbell, Karyn and John Zanetti, Brian and Chrissy McCormack, and Marty and Pam McCormack, her grandchildren Shane and Alex Zanetti, Jake and Ellen Zanetti, Maddy and Zach Novick, Molly and James McDonough, Corrie and Wesley Pendarvis, Julie and James Russell, Allison and Mike Alldritt, Mason McCormack, RJ McCormack and Courtney McCormack. She also has 10 great grandchildren with another due soon, Quinn, Nolan, Teddy McDonough, Cooper and Bennett Zanetti, Tommy Novick, Jones Zanetti, Neil and Anna Russell, Eleanor Alldritt. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Shirley McCormack, Jeanie (Lyle) Pyke and Angela McCormack and her brothers-in-law, Joe Fish and Ron Charsky; and by many, many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Oak and Leroy Streets, Binghamton, Friday, August 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA. The family will receive friends at St. Patrick's Church, Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in Ginnie's memory may be made to St. Patrick's Church Restoration Fund, 9 Leroy Street, Binghamton, NY 13905.
