John Joseph "Jay" Cahill, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at his Summer home in Thousand Islands, New York. He was predeceased by his mother, Jacqueline R. Cahill and his infant niece and nephews, Hannah, Matthew and Timothy Scoville. He is survived by his fiancé, his first and last love, Debbie DeLucia, his children whom he adored Patrick and Megan Cahill; his father John E. "Jack" Cahill; his siblings, Marianne Carroll (George), Ginny Dennison (Don), Daniel Cahill (Mona), Laura Benko (Bob), Jackie Scoville (Mark); his nieces and nephews, Shannon Ogulewicz (Josh), Caitlin Montone(John), Christopher (Taylor) Carroll, Casey (Kelsey) and Ryan Dennison, Jake, Alanna, Isabella, Jessica and Samantha Cahill, Cara (TJ) Roux and Michael Benko, Alyssa (Pat) Joyce, Daniel, Luke, Emma and Michael Scoville; also his great nieces and nephews, Jack and Reese Ogulewicz, Austin and Gia Montone and Liam and Shay Joyce.
Jay grew up and lived most of his life in the Binghamton area where he graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1975 while going on to study at SUNY Broome and Binghamton University. He careered at IBM Endicott and retired after 30 years of service.
Jay was always considered the life of the party and never spared a laugh among those around him. He had a big heart and led by example, always willing to help any of his loved ones in need, organizing many ceremonies, golf tournaments, and benefits over the years. He enjoyed traveling around the country with Debbie, visiting his children, countless friends and never missing a family occasion.
An avid sports fan, Jay adored the Mets, Islanders, Vikings and Notre Dame Football. Notably, he loved to reminisce about the time his father surprised him at the Binghamton Club where he got to meet his childhood idol, Tom Seaver.
We will all miss the good times, the laughs, his funny nicknames and endless childhood stories with our beloved Jay, gone from us too soon with memories to cherish.
