Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret/Peg (McHale) Mahar left this earth peacefully on May 20, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family as she left to join her husband Robert T. Mahar, who predeceased her in 2006. She was the daughter of the late Edward McHale and Marjorie O'Brien. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Mary Donahue and son-in-law Patrick Murphy. She is survived by her seven children; Tom (Beth) Mahar, Mary (David) Mineno, Margaret (John) Tobias, Leigh Mahar, Kate (Dinesh) Mahar, Eileen Mallon, and Julia Mahar. She is also survived by her sister - Trudy Reynolds. She attended St Patrick's Academy and Broome Community College. She was a stay at home mother while her children were small - a "perpetual grade parent" at St. Thomas Aquinas School. In later years, she worked and retired from Binghamton West Middle School. She was a member of St. Thomas Altar and Rosary Society and participated in the monthly fatima, where she made many lifelong friends. She was a member of Catholic Charities Ladies of Charity, volunteering at the Nearly New Shop and the Food Pantry. She was a proud member of the Ancient Order of HIbernians Ladies Division II, where she worked endlessly on Committees, Irish Festivals, and breakfasts. One of her greatest joys was serving as the Grand Marshal alongside her husband, of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in 1996. In addition to her children, Peg will be greatly missed by her 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and her great-great granddaughter Giaddah Mahoney. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she treated like her own. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton, Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitney Point, NY. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. The Mass will be livestreamed at tinyurl.com/12w5eun or by going to https://sta-sp.org/
