Obituary of Lillian Scanlon

Scanlon, Lillian Hyde "Chubby" Binghamton: Lillian Hyde "Chubby" Scanlon, 86 of Binghamton, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Ideal Senior Living Center. She was predeceased by her parents, Jesse and Lillian Hyde; her brothers, Vincent Geary and Jesse Hyde; her sisters, Margaret Adams and Betty Gray. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Bill and Boni Scanlon, Endwell; grandchildren, Jennifer Scanlon, Shawna and Stuart Foster; sisters, Clara Slocum and Norma Dalgleish; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Lena Valada. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton and retired elementary school teacher in the Binghamton School District, retiring after 33 years. Lillian served as a member of the State Commissioner's of Education, committee on Equal Opportunity for Women in Education. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #206 Auxiliary; Post 80 Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters of America Ct. Binghamton 237. She enjoyed bowling, line dancing and her fellow walkers at the mall. Special thanks to the staff at Ideal Sr. Living Center. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton Saturday at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Friday from 4-6 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lillian may be made to St. Mary's Church Refurbishing Fund, 15 Doubleday Street, Binghamton, NY 13901
