Obituary of Margaret L. O'Neill

Margaret L. "Peggy" Martinson O'Neill, 90, of Endwell NY, died April 11, 2022 in Johnson City, NY. She joins her beloved husband of 69 years, Dennis J. O'Neill, who passed away in 2020. She is also predeceased by her infant son Dennis James; her granddaughter Erin Elizabeth; her parents Eilert K. and Blanche Hayes Martinson; and her mother and father-in-law, Frances and Thomas O'Neill. Margaret was a very thoughtful and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, which she considered her most important role in life. Left to cherish her memory are her children Brigid and Douglas LaGier, Eileen O'Neill, Timothy and Leslie O'Neill, Margaret (Tom) O'Neill, Michael and Stacy O'Neill, Patricia and Mark Reed, Marie and Olivier Castagné and John (Gloria) O'Neill; her cherished grandchildren, Kathryn; Ciara; Ryan, Damian and Gretchen; David, Michele, Rachel and Spencer; Nathan and Jessica, Mark, and Lucas; Marie Blanche and Arthur, and Shane; and her great grandchildren Emily and Julia; Emeline, Kaiya, Valarie, Peyton and Cayden; and Janelle and Gavin. Mom/Nanny, your time with us was a gift and we will forever miss the sound of your voice, the wisdom of your advice, the stories of your life, and just being in your presence. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Maureen Hickey and Joan O'Neill; several cousins, and many nieces and nephews who adored her. Born in Binghamton, NY, Margaret was the youngest child of Eilert and Blanche Martinson. She graduated from St. Paul's High School in 1950 and married Denny, the love of her life in 1951. She is preceded in death by her siblings; her brothers and sister-in-law, Gilbert (Evelyn) and Jack Martinson, her sisters and brothers-in law, Mary (John) Flood, Jane (Cleon) Becker and Patricia Martinson; her nephews, Gilbert and Thomas Martinson, Michael Flood, and James O'Neill; her niece Lynn Martinson Rosenthal; and her brothers-in-law Jerome Hickey and Thomas (Tucker) O'Neill. A private burial will be held at St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA.
