God heard the prayers of millions of Red Sox fans, but He didn't know how to help the team. So on March 17th 2022 He called home Francis "Joe" Libous to consult.

Joe was born on September 2, 1936 to George and Alice Libous and lived in Binghamton, NY for many years before moving to his home in Endwell. He was pre-deceased by his parents, wife Sally (Tozer) Libous, and sister Barbara Libous Jurena.

He is survived by daughters Cathy, Mary Ellen (Howard) Rosenberg, grandsons Sam and Jack Rosenberg, sisters-in-law Mary Ann (Tony) Ruspantini and Ellen A'Hearn Johnston, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His memory also lives on in special friends Joyce & Don Andrejko (whose grandkids thought he was the best lifeguard ever!), Karen & Marc Hunsberger, Chuck Debnar, Mike & Ruth Andrew, and one of only two barbers ever allowed to cut Joe's hair with his signature crew cut: Chris Griggs.

Joe grew up in Binghamton, went to school at Binghamton North High School, and also studied at Broome Community College. He worked at Manni's Donuts, GAF, and then with the Press & Sun Bulletin for 35 years retiring as district manager. After retirement he also worked for Barnes Florist, delivering happiness to countless homes.

Joe's passion was sports, and if your child played youth sports in the 80's, 90's, or 00's you probably ran into Joe. He volunteered for many years with the City of Binghamton youth programs in Little League Baseball, Pee Wee Football, and Girls Softball. Joe was instrumental in the creation and operation of the Tommy Cramer Memorial Baseball Tournament for Little League teams that ran for many years in Binghamton's South Side. Joe was active in Broome County CYO Basketball for over 40 years, coaching teams at St. Paul's and St. John's, and also working in the administration.

Joe was an avid Red Sox fan, Notre Dame Football fan, and New York Giants fan. He loved watching sports as well as participating in bowling and golfing. If the game was on, Joe was watching. We're sure he still is with a vodka and Arnold Palmer in his hand. There is a brick at Fenway Park with the inscription, "Joe Libous – this diamond is forever".

The family would also like to thank the wonderful caregivers Carol, Desirae, and Danielle who made Joe more comfortable at home.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Thursday, Mary 24, 2022 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. The family requests that flowers please be omitted and that expressions of sympathy in Joe's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
