John Braidwood "Braidy" Brown Obituary
J. Braidy Brown died suddenly on February 9, 2022. He is predeceased by his parents James G. and Margaret (Smellie) who were both born in Scotland and older brother Alec. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn (Okoniewski); daughter Siusan Orlovsky, husband David and their children Peter and Nicholas; brother Stuart; and cousin Douglas (of Prestwick, Scotland). Braidy started his career as a janitor at IBM and through hard work and boundless determination rose to the position of Manager of World Trade. Although he was a Scotsman to the core he had an infectious smile. Braidy brought laughter to every situation and he could grow one heck of a mustache. Anywhere he went in the world he ran into someone he knew and he was always generous to his friends. He loved juggling and joined the leadership of the International Jugglers' Association where he led several successful conference events. He spent many years as a stalwart supporter of the YMCA. "Often wrong but never in doubt!"
Private Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton. Rev. Msgr. John P. Putano will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
