Lisa Maureen Curley, 51, of Binghamton, New York, passed away suddenly yet peacefully on January 7, 2022, at her mother's home on the southside of Binghamton. Lisa was born at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital on February 15, 1970, to Sharon Smith (Crimmins) and Thomas Joseph Curley. Lisa graduated from Broome-Tioga Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) Preparation for Adult Living Success (PALS) and participated in Onondaga Community College summer programs. Lisa was active in several community and national interests, including the Special Olympics and the Talking Hands performance group. Lisa also volunteered at the Animal Care Council and Meals on Wheels. Lisa was a talented chef and baker, creating award winning chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and apple pies at the Special Kneads booth at the Farmer's Market on Front Street, along with her co-chef, Angela. In her spare time, Lisa enjoyed movies, music, and was an avid fan of the Binghamton University Women's Basketball team. Lisa is survived by her mother Sharon Smith; step-father Russ Smith; brother Thomas Edward Curley; sister-in-law Mireille Curley; step-brothers (and sisters in law) Shane and Heather Wolfsmith and Justin and Holly Smith; Aunts and uncles Maureen and Dick Ryder, and James Curley; nieces and nephews, Kaylah, Maya, and Noah Curley, Asher and Tatum Wolfsmith, and Annabel and Everet Smith; and first-cousins Matthew Ryder, Coleen Franzel, Cheryl Arouth, and Brian Curley. Lisa is also survived by her beloved rescue cat, Miley. Lisa was predeceased by her father Thomas J. Curley, aunt Joanne Curley, and her grandparents. Lisa was loving, compassionate, faithful, and joyful. She had a deep connection to her family, community, and housemates. The family expresses its appreciation to the staff at Catholic Charities Residential for the love, care, and support provided to Lisa throughout many years. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Church, Main Street, Johnson City, Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA in the spring. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Lisa's memory may be made to The Broome County Humane Society, https://bchumanesoc.com.
