Josephine M. Stirpe Kocik, of Binghamton, died Saturday evening, November 23, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Kocik; her son, James Kocik; and a granddaughter, Kim Snider. She is survived by her children, Thomas and Dorothy Kocik, Rev. Frank W. Kocik, Parochial Vicar at St. Mary of the Assumption Church and St. Paul's Church, Binghamton, John and Linda Kocik, Richard Kocik, Loretta Kocik; her grandchildren, Rev. Thomas M. Kocik, Michael and Kate Kocik, Dare Marie and Erik LaSalle, Jamie and Clayton Culp, Elizabeth Kocik; great-grandchildren, Ryan Snider, Isabella, Wylee, Fenway LaSalle, Calvin Culp; special cousins, Stella Barvinchak and Nicolina Keane. She was a very active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton, and a retired calendar clerk for the NYS Court of Claims. She was a member of the Sons of Italy Silver Star Lodge and the Moose Lodge 1013. The family wishes to acknowledge her caregivers, Lisa, Linda, and Erica. A Funeral Mass will be offered by her son and grandson at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Binghamton, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Josephine may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 15 Doubleday St., Binghamton, NY 13901 or the American Cancer Society , 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790.
