Obituary of John R. Burke

John R. "Dick" Burke, 85, of Bingamton, died Thursday, December 10, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Sophie (Danek) Burke and by his two sisters and brother, Marilyn, Barbara and Robert. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret (Bohunicky) Burke and by his children, Michael J. and Mary Burke, Patrick J. Burke and Mary K. and Richard Russ; his grandchildren Jeffrey Burke, Daniel Burke, Sophia Russ M.D. and her husband Derrick Danieu and Blaine Russ; his sister-in-law, Sarah Burke; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a retired employee of IBM Corporation and a former President of its Quarter Century Club. He was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City and was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War. He was devoted to his faith and church. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Church, Main Street, Johnson City, Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
