Obituary of Nancy E. Zuwiyya

Zuwiyya, Nancy E. Vestal: Nancy E. Zuwiyya, 68, born in Bath, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, after a valiant fight with cancer. Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Julal; sons, David (Sara), Joseph (Wendi), and Rami (Emily); sister, Mary (George) Telatnik; and seven grandchildren, Minor & Cecil, Joseph & Sara, Layla, Luke & Vivienne. Nancy was a dedicated teacher at Binghamton High School where she taught English and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for 45 years. At Binghamton University, she completed her graduate study where she earned her PHD in Comparative Literature. Nancy loved reading, teaching, gardening, cooking, and having family gatherings at her home. Nancy especially embraced multiculturalism and her family and friends from all around the world. Thank you to everyone involved in her care. Memorial services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send all donations to needy students at Binghamton High School ESL Program.
