Obituary of Beverly R. Larrabee

Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beverly (Bev) Larrabee, 71, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2013. She will be greeted in heaven by her parents, John and Eleanor (Quinlivan) Bergin; infant brother, John; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who have passed before her. She is survived by her children, Patrick, Michael (Val) Bergin, Katie (John) Wilcox; grandchildren, Alli, Adam, Sarah, Cameron and Michele; siblings, Robert (Mary) Bergin, Diane (Thom) Speares, Dorothy (Tom) Mott and Don Bergin; as well as family friend Orazio Salati; several nieces and nephews; special cousins, Nancy Ruddy, Marlene West, Barbara Medwetz, and Kathleen Slon; and a large extended family of cousins, friends and neighbors. A true Southsider, Bev was a lifetime parishioner of the Parish of Saints John and Andrew. She was known for baking her famous apple pies, often baking four or more at a time to share with people she thought "just needed a pie." She opened her heart to her children's friends, who often referred to her as a second mother. She had the gift of laughter, which on many occasions would end with tears of joy rolling down her cheeks. She was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians where she embraced her Irish heritage and passed her Irish pride down to her children and grandchildren. A natural caregiver, Bev worked as a nurse at Willow Point Nursing Home where she bought comfort and joy to many residents. In her retirement she began cross stitching, leaving her family a legacy of beautiful quilts and keepsakes. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers of Lourdes Hospice especially Sr. Fredrica, for their unending compassion, care and kindness during Bev's illness. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton Monday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Sunday from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Bev may be made to Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850. As a lover of flowers and bright colors, Bev requested that people celebrate her life by wearing bright and cheerful colors in her memory. Go gcasfar le chile sinn ars ar chladach Thr na ng.
