Julia C. (Hogan) O'Hara, 102 years old, died at home Tuesday, October 1, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Thomas M. O'Hara, in 2000. She is the last descendent of her immediate Hogan family. Julia was predeceased by her parents, Thomas L. and Mary E. Hogan of Binghamton; her sister, Mary (Hogan) O'Neil; and five brothers, John L., T. Francis, William L., James H. and Edward P. Hogan. She is survived by her two daughters and six sons, Mary A. O'Hara, Vestal, Julia O'Hara Murphy and Timothy Murphy, Naperville, IL, Thomas H. O'Hara, Vestal, Gerald E. and Peggy O'Hara, Chenango Forks, Robert J. and Roseanne O'Hara, James B. and MaryAnn O'Hara, all of Vestal, Edward J. O'Hara, White Plains, Joseph M. and Maureen O'Hara, Lutherville, MD; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ann Hogan; and many loving nieces and nephews. As a young woman, she was very active in St. John's Church, Binghamton, teaching Religious Education, and was a manager of the girls basketball team. Julia was a founding member of St. Vincent dePaul Church, Vestal, and was a Vincentian's member and a member of the Women's Club. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Bishop Forey 1502 for many years. She worked on the Vestal Poll Election Board for many years. Her faith and family filled her life. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Ramanujan and his staff for their kindness and help to our mother for many years. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent dePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Friday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Julia may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, 165 Clifton Blvd., Vestal, NY 13850.
