Obituary of Robert B. Keenan
Robert Bernard Keenan, 89, of Friendsville, Pennsylvania died Saturday June 14, 2019 after a short illness. He was born August 20, 1929 to James A. and Anna Mae (Kinney) Keenan. He was predeceased by Anna Mae (Ryan) Keenan, his wife of 52 years. He was also predeceased by his parents, his brother, James P. Keenan of Friendsville, PA, and his sister-in-law, Mary (Ryan) Cadden of Binghamton, NY. Bob is survived by his two daughters and their partners, Mary M. Keenan (Timothy Kerrigan) and Teresa A. Keenan (Carlos M. Indacochea). Bob is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Louise (Curley) Keenan; his niece, Katherine Keenan; his nephew and his wife, Thomas J. and Kylie Keenan; and his great-niece, Abigail Keenan. Bob was born and raised in the rolling hills of Northeastern Pennsylvania where he was a dairy farmer, a lumber man, and a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. For a number of years he served as a member of the school board for the Elk Lake School District, and was also Secretary of the Cemetery Association of St. Francis Xavier Church. Bob was a kind-hearted man who delighted in telling sometimes salty stories of growing up with his brother during the Great Depression and the important life lessons his family, friends, and neighbors taught him. He was proud of his Irish-American heritage and a devout Roman Catholic. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis Xavier Church, Friendsville, PA, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the J. A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bob may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery Association, 17 Cottage Street, Friendsville, PA 18818.
