Obituary of Roger J. Gaffney

Roger J. Gaffney of Endwell, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 on his 76th Birthday. He was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Arlene Gaffney. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Shirley Reardon Gaffney, Endwell; children, Patrick Reardon Gaffney and Sandra Gaffney, Spencerport, Linda M. and Joe McManus, Camillus; his grandchildren, Tara, Kate, George, Joseph, Daniel, Kelly, Shannon and Samantha; two brothers, Walter W. and Phyllis Gaffney, Sunnyvale, CA, Lawrence J. Gaffney, Las Vegas, NV; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen and Edward Gavin, Gerald F. and Jacqueline Reardon; several nieces, nephews and his friends at the Galley. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Family, Endwell. Roger retired as Vice President and Trust Officer at Key Bank and was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War; member of American Legion Post 1227 and the Endwell Rotary. Roger was an avid Notre Dame fan, Brooklyn Dodgers fan, enjoyed fishing, camping, trips to the Thousand Islands and woodworking. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of the Holy Family, Endwell, Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Sunday from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Roger may be made to Catholic Charities of Broome County, 232 Main Street Binghamton, NY 13905 or Lourdes Breast Cancer Center, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, NY 13905.
