James W. Blakesley, 86 of Johnson City died Tuesday September 24, 2013 at the NYS Veterans Home at Oxford. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Doreen Madison Blakesley; his children, Robert and Kathy Blakesley, Deborah Blakesley, John Blakesley, Mary and Kerry Kleissle, Teresa Blakesley, Jim and Jeanne Blakesley, Thomas Blakesley, Michael Blakesley, Cathy and Jeremy Stahl, Fran and April Blakesley, Stephanie and Jim Rooney; 21 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; nephew, Charles and Amy Blakesley; sister-in-law, Anne Guinane; brother-in-law, James and Hannah Madison; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City. Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a U.S. Marine Veteran of the Korean War. He was a former employee of Singer-Link and Queens Farm Dairy. He was a former Justice of the Peace in Afton and a member of the Knights of Columbus Peter T. Campon Council #206 and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and baking. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Church, Johnson City Friday at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Thursday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Jim may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 401 Hayes Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760 or Catholic Charities of Broome County, 232 Main Street, Binghamton, NY 13905 or Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
