Obituary of Mary Lou Yudin

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Lou (Corcoran) Yudin died on September 13, 2013 after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was 86 years old. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Cecelia Corcoran. Her brother Edward and his wife Florence Corcoran predeceased her in 2006 and 2003. She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and loving husband of 68 years, Joseph B. Yudin; also her daughters, Patricia Marla Yudin, Poestenkill, NY, Margaret (Joseph) Kalet, McLean, VA, Colleen (Jim) Cowan, Sonoma, CA, Kate Hutchison, Scotts Valley, CA. Her daughter Mary Ellen passed away from a brain aneurysm in 2010. Mary Lou is also survived by her grandchildren, Jude (Lisa) Kalet, Derrick Rossi, Jared Rossi, Rachel Cowan and Luke Hutchison. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Collette Grace, Syracuse, NY; her brothers, James (Dorothy) Corcoran, Palm Harbor, FL, and John (Marge) Corcoran, Charlotte, NC; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Her family would like to thank all those at Good Shepherd Village Nursing Home for the loving care that was shown to Mary Lou during her time there. Mary was a woman of great faith with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. She cherished her Irish Catholic background as reflected in the names of her children. The Rosary and the novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal were always a part of her and Joe's life. She was a member of the Parish of Saints John and Andrew for over 60 years, serving for many years in the Society of St. Therese. Her family and home were the center of her life as was evident in the beautiful way she decorated her home and the wonderful meals she prepared. Mary Lou came from an ice skating family. Her father Edward (Paddy) Corcoran was an Olympic contender in 1919. She, herself, won the title of Senior Women's Championship at the age of 16 at ice skating races at Recreation Park. She had a special love for her pets and believed she would see them again at the Rainbow Bridge. Immediately after Mary passed, a sun shower began and a beautiful rainbow appeared directly over the nursing home. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Friday at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Humane Society, 2 Jackson St., Binghamton, NY 13903 in Mary Lou Yudin's memory.
