David C. Meltzer, age 56, beloved, son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend entered peacefully into eternal life on Thursday January 31st, 2019, surrounded by loved ones in Jacksonville, FL. David lost his courageous battle with the awful disease of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He was born August 10th, 1962 in Binghamton, NY to Mary and Richard "Dick" Meltzer. He is survived by his mother, Mary Meltzer, sister, Sara Meltzer, three children, David C. Meltzer, Jr., Katherine McCarthy and Nolan Meltzer, his granddaughter, Amelia Meltzer, daughter in law, Alicia Meltzer and son in law, Kevin McCarthy. David was a chef and loved cooking elaborate meals for family, parties and holidays. He owned a restaurant in Orlando, FL for multiple years, and then went on to work in food sales for Sysco. Funeral Services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Binghamton, 42 Chenango Street, Binghamton, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Rev. Kimberly Chastain will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family, friends, and others, whose lives David touched are invited to the Library Lounge of United Presbyterian Church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just catch up with others. In Lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in David's Memory to the fundraiser "Tackle ALS – Team Diamond Dave", in which 100% of the proceeds will fund ALS research.
