Obituary of Francis J Moran

Francis James Moran left this earth to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on September 10, 2013 after 88 years of beautiful life. He was born on January 9, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1942 and served as class president. He was happily married to his wife and best friend, Anne, for 66 years. He was greeted in heaven by his parents, Patrick and Lena Moran and his brother, John. He is survived by Anne and their five children, Terrance Moran, James Moran, Patricia Almond, Michael Moran and Mary Ellen Fennimore and son-in-law, Neal Almond. Francis is also survived by six grandchildren, Joel Moran, Shannon Moran, Michelle (Reilly) Atkinson, Brian Reilly, Ryan Moran and Daniel Moran. Francis has three great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Brittany Atkinson and Braeden Patrick Reilly. Francis was a dedicated parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church where he was a choir member for many years and served as president of St. Thomas Aquinas Holy Name Society. Major Moran proudly served his country during World War II as an United States Army Air Corps officer. He was a pilot. He remained in the Air Force Reserve following his active duty service. He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America. Concurrent with his military reserve duties, Mr. Moran had a 34-year career with IBM and served as president of the IBM Country Club. His loving spirit and positive demeanor will be forever be his legacy to his family. The Moran family would like to give special thanks for the respectful treatment and loving assistance his caregivers provided during his illness. Fran's memory and spirit will be lovingly held in our hearts until we join him in heaven. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Ave., Binghamton, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Friday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Fran may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1 Aquinas St., Binghamton, NY 13905.
