Obituary of Grace M. Shupa

Grace Shupa, 99 of Binghamton died Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, NY. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Walter Shupa in 2008 and her parents, Anthony and Mary LaTorrey, her one sister Pauline LaTorrey , her four brothers Joseph, Casper, Anthony and Peter, her sisters-in-law Gloria LaTorrey, Stephanie Allen, Mary Nogaret, Julia Rinaldi, Nellie Serafini, Theresa Chudacek, Rose Kern, and Pauline Evangelisti. One brother-in-law Gerald Shupa. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Harold Trimm, Greene, her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Sharon Shupa, Binghamton, and two grandchildren, Erik Lasky, Binghamton and Bryan Trimm, Stamford, Connecticut. Her brothers-in-law Albert Shupa and Fredrick Shupa and a sister-in-law Jane Vandervort all of Bingamton; several nieces and newphews, especially niece Deborah La Torrey and Gary La Torrey and his wife Dianne all of Johnson City. She was a member of Saint Cyril's Parish. Grace was an accountant for Stack Electronics, ASI Electronics and later Phil's Gift Shop. She had many hobbies of knitting, reading and bingo, going to lunch, and casino trips to Atlantic City, Turning Stone and family trips to Myrtle Beach. She was well spoken and well respected and loved by many people who knew of her extreme kindness and very good hearted manor to so many people she helped during her long life. The family would like to thank Dr. Linda Fort, Dr. Christine Fenlon, Dr. Christian Tvetenstrand, Dr. Americhettie of UHS for their execellent medical care provided to Grace as well as the entire staff of NYS Veterans Home for the exemplary care that they provided during her short stay. The family is honoring Grace's request that there will be no calling hours or service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City at the convenience of the family.
