Obituary of Betty Jane Jacyna

JOHNSON CITY - Betty J. Jacyna of Johnson City, NY, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 18, 2019. Betty was born on September 19, 1931 in Binghamton, NY and was predeceased by her parents Robert and Julia Brennan and her brother William Brennan. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years Myron R. Jacyna and her children Richard (Judith) Jacyna, Carol (John) Lurenz, Julie (Sean) Healy, Myron (Mary) Jacyna. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Adrianne Allen (Mike Hadlick), Aaron Jacyna (Cassandra Lewis), Jonathan (Jessica) Lurenz, Catrina (Jeffrey) Jaketic, Meagan (Kyle) Hastie, Monica (Aristedes) Staffieri, Kevin Healy, Joshua Jacyna and Jennifer (Sean) Swider, 9 great grandchildren with #10 on the way. She is also survived by her brother Robert Brennan. Betty's greatest love was her family and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty was a modern woman who worked various jobs, finishing her work life as a school bus driver with Johnson City School District. However, her real career was her ever growing family and friends. She loved to do for family and enjoyed having them to the family cottage at Laurel Lake. The same joy of doing for family was always present at the holiday feasts she worked so hard to prepare for every gathering. Betty loved life, her family, caring for and decorating her home, reading, all of her kitties, and the joy of the birds in her own backyard. She was very loved and will be deeply missed by her family. As Dad always says, she was the love of his life and a great mother to us. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Thursday at 1 p.m. Reverend Corey S. VanKuren will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Betty may be made to the Humane Society, 167 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903.
