Obituary of Patricia H. Pender

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia "Honey" Pender left this earthly place to join her family members who went before her. She died as she lived her life, very peacefully surrounded by the people she loved the most. She is predeceased by her parents, Dr. James (Kathleen) Haley, her husband, Richard B. Pender, her brother and sister-in-law, James (Eileen) Haley, her brother-in-law, Robert S. Matthews and 3 nephews Robert, James and Anthony Matthews. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Kathleen H. Matthews, special cousins, beloved neices, nephews, great-neices, great-nephews, together with the great-great neices, and great-great nephews, who she thought of as her own children. Our hearts will be forever filled with her love. She was a graduate of Binghamton High School class of 1942. Upon graduation, she went on to work for her father's dental practice, where she kept her social life front and center. She went on to marry the love of her life and together they owned and operated Dwyers Junior Shoes. She and her husband went on to care for her parents for many years and together they enjoyed life to the fullest. She had her masters in patience and kindness, having never spoken an unkind word. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and a member and former President of the Rod Serling Foundation. Special Thanks to the guardian angels who allowed her to stay in her home: Rose, Michelle, Liz, Doreen, Peggy, Debra and Elizabeth. Your love and tenderness have been a gift. Also, to the compassionate staff at Mercy House, our heartfelt Thank You for what you do every day! Honey was the life of the party. The only thing more legendary than her sense of humor, was Honey herself. She loved nothing more than a family gathering and to tip a cocktail or two. If you were lucky enough to share one with her, you were lucky enough! A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Highland Avenue, Binghamton, Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. Expressions of sympathy in Patricia's memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
