It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph C. Hardin, announces his passing on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Joe was pre-deceased by his mother, Mary Hardin his wife of 63 years, Dolores M. Hardin and half-sister Virginia Gilkey (James). Joe will be lovingly remembered and missed by the family he left behind. He is survived by his sons Mark (Lucy) of Garner, NC, Craig (Rebecca) of Binghamton, NY and Dean (Ana) of Camillus, NY as well as his sister Mary Surowka, and brothers Walter (Cathy) and Fran (Chris) Telfer. Joe is also survived by his half-brother Joseph Kelly Hardin Jr. (Betty), and half-sisters Marilyn Lastowski (Michael), Janelle Hardin (David St. Germain), Lori Willett (James), grandchildren Casey, Maxwell, Clark, Adam, Sarah and great-granddaughter Autumn. Joe's surviving family members also include numerous nephews and nieces, all of whom he loved dearly. Joe served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. Joe was a dedicated member of St. Paul's Church and retired from Singer-Link Simulation. A devoted family man, Joe was always happy to spend time supporting his children and grandchildren in their various activities and was consistently their biggest fan and champion. The family wishes to thank everyone at the Good Shephard Fairview Home in Binghamton for the care and support provided to our father. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Church, 282 Chenango Street, Binghamton on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Joe to the Retired Professional Firefighters Cancer Fund, 4 Loretta Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905.
